| Michiru found that her time was scarce since the last time she had volunteered to teach a class of eager amateurs from all walks of the art world. Though she no longer attended this school, she did have a certain fondness for its programs. They had really done well with her education, so while nowhere near its former (and sinister) glory, when she was approached with the plea to teach a class as a means of promoting their new establishment Michiru decided to oblige. It was the only one of its kind that was open to all ages, and for free. All one had to do was sign up in the available spaces.
She began with a brief lecture on the basic principles on art and used the chalkboard behind her to demonstrate what form and value was, and offered a definition even a child as young as 6 could understand. They were doing still life, and would be using their choice in medium; pencil crayon, water colour, or paint. After that, she went around the room observing people's efforts. She could quickly see the difference in skill, and tailored her advice to suit. It was quite amazing how different the same bowl of fruit would appear depending on who drew it, and with what. Some barely looked like what it was meant to represent, so she spent a little more time working out the forms with them.

| Aoi muttered to himself as he walked into the school. It wasn't even his school so why did he need to be here. He sighed his school bag resting on his shoulder and dreassed in his juban uniform ready to bolt at any moment. Art classes just one more thing that he wasn't to fond of anymore. The silver haired boy had wanted to take one before when he was little but seeing as his parents were never home to ask and spent the least amount of money they could on him they were out of reach for the young boy. Now that even if he had a better family and parents that actually cared the want for an art class was just another bad memory. He thought he himself was a decent artist especially when it came to sketching He just never did a whole lot with it because of the memories it brought back. In other words just one more thing he had once upon a time loved ruined for him by his biological parents.
He sighed annoyed as he sat down setting his tennis bag next to him having just come from practice and surprisingly to him he wasn't late.he set the sketch pad his mother had handed to him as he walked out the door that morning. Apparently pranking was not a good hobby for his free time and so he was supposed to go find a new hobby. He didn't think it helped much that he had brought a few of his sketches from when he was little with him when they had adopted him but that was beside the point. His sister had even encouraged him to go as she was about the only member of the family that knew why he had stopped sketching to begin with. When it was time to actually get down to the art stuff he pulled out a pencil and got to work He shaded here and there looking up from time to time. the one that got him was when he started on the banana that just happened to be in the bowl. By the time he had finished drawing it well it didn't look like what it was supposed to look like he wasn't actually sure what it was supposed to be he just knew it wasn't a banana yet some of the other fruits or the one's he had drawn looked like what they were supposed to be. "well it can't be helped since it's been so long since I've drawn anything." he muttered to himself dropping his pencil to get another good look at the bowl of Fruit and figure out where he went wrong when he had drawn it and nothing seemed to be coming to mind. He glared at the bowl of fruit as if it was mocking him.

| Michiru walked around the room, with her white heels clicking over the sound of pencils and paintbrushes on their canvas. Her hands took a comfortable position behind her back and she glanced ever so often to the work of each person. What caught her eye about the silver haired young man was not his drawing at first, but rather his fierce expession as he glared at the arrangement of fruit as if they had personally offended him. Michiru couldn't help but chuckle.
"Having some trouble?" she asked as she stepped by him and offered her easy smile. "You are having difficulty getting the shapes right, it seems," she observed as she leaned in and regarded the sketch. "Instead of trying to draw each component separately...perhaps you should try drawing the fruit bowl as a whole. Do an outline of what you see, and then shade in the different fruit into that space. Do you understand?"
Sometimes, her expertise could get in the way of her teaching to amateur artists. Michiru, or Kaioh-sensei as she was called in this class, was aware of that. If he didn't understand she was willing to demonstrate, which was the easiest way for the both of them.

| The silver haired boy was about to throw his sketch book across the room. Something like this usually wouldn't cause him to lose his temper but this class there was just something that was pulling at him and he didn't like it. He took a deep breath his glare still focused on the fruit bowl. He could hear where Michiru was as she moved around the room her heels were enough to tell him that. However he hadn't expected the other to come up behind him or speak to him. When he heard her voice he nearly jumped but kept his composure as he turned to her. "you could say that." he said with a forced smile attempting to make it look real. Weather he actually accomplished that was another story than again he was good at making smiles look real.
He listened as she explained a better way to draw it to him. He thought about it a moment and where as it made some sense it had been so long since he had drawn anything he wasn't fully sure on what she meant. "Somewhat but I'm afraid that it's been so long since I've last done anything art related that I can't fully grasp the concept of doing that way." he said scratching the back of his head sheepishly before pushing his hair that was in the rat tail back behind him once again.

| Michiru nodded subtly in understanding at his plight. "It is not the easiest to grasp, so let me show you instead," she offered and pulled the pencil that rested behind her ear. She leaned over and held the pencil both delicately and expertly; which about summed up the kind of reputation Michiru Kaioh had in public. Deftly but slowly for his sake she dragged an outline of the entire set. "This is a technique called negative and positive space. It helps with composition. The area inside of this shape now..." she lightly shaded in the fruit-bowl shape space before continuing, "this is what we consider 'positive space', which is the subject of interest. Everything outside it is negative space. You should practice this on your time with objects around you. It eliminates detail and just focuses on composition. Then, you can always add in details later."
She removed the pencil from the page and tucked it back behind her ear. "Try it yourself on a fresh page--just the outlines of the shapes you see. Don't worry if it doesn't look quite right. It's a skill that develops over time like anything else. Your mind has to grow attuned to interpreting 3-D objects into 2-D shapes on a page," she assured since she could feel a brimming frustration within him.
"I teach these classes every two weeks. The same material won't be covered, but if you have time you're welcome to attend them and we can track your progress--if you're serious about improving..." She waited to see his reaction to that statement before continuing. "I'll also be available for half an hour after the class ends if you want to discuss this more." She had other students to look after, but if he had additional questions they could have a bit of a one on one session. "How does that sound?"
